These are some words

from the sermon Stuart preached at the funeral of Judith Flint.

As a background the resurrection of Jesus came through in everything Judith said and thought about her final days.Stuart said: ‘It was almost two years ago that we all gathered to celebrate Judith’s 60th birthday. Little did we think then that we would be gathered here like this now.Her sister Susan said at the birthday lunch, “You’ve achieved so much, given so much, read loads of books, and confronted life head on.” She also confronted death head on.  It is her that turns this from being a hopeless sad day to a hopeful sad day. When she was diagnosed with the cancer someone said to her that she had to stay positive. Her reply was that she was positive. “I am positive that the Lord is now calling me to the next stage of my journey to be with him.”Another person told her to have faith. Her answer was, “I have faith. Faith that I am going to be with the Lord at the feast in the Kingdom of heaven.”She was quite remarkable. She saw death as the healer of this cancer, and was looking at, as she put it, “if not a great adventure, then at least a great journey.”’What an Easter faith!Happy Easter!
